Six Minute Walk Test

This test is a objective measure of functional capacity in patients with lung diseases especially.

The distance covered over a time period of 6 minutes is used as the outcome. It is being used in the pretreatment and post treatment comparisons of the following diseases like COPD, Pulmonary hypertension, Lung volume reduction surgery, Lung transplantation and Pulmonary rehabilitation amongst other indications. It is used to assess the clinically significant improvement in patients with lung diseases.

The test has been used widely for measuring the response to therapeutic interventions in patients with pulmonary and cardiac diseases.
